GRIST MILL
The Grist Mill
Stratford Hall’s water-powered Grist Mill was constructed in the early 1740s by Thomas Lee in a picturesque setting just above the beaches of the Potomac River. The Mill was reconstructed in 1939 on the foundations of the original Lee mill and the waterwheel turns wooden gears that produce grits, cornmeal, and pancake flour. Stratford Hall Grist Mill products are available at the Gift Shop.
