The tents are going up and we are busy getting ready for our 6th Annual Wine Festival this weekend. We will be having 12 wineries this year, seven of which are new to the festival. They include Cooper Vineyards, Glass House Winery, Good Luck Cellars, Horton Vineyards, Mattaponi Winery, Rogers Ford Winery and Trump Winery. Other additions to this year’s event include a classic car show on Sunday (only) as well as a chocolate making and a blacksmithing demonstration.
There is, of course, a lot of staff work going on behind the scene to make this event happen. The farm crew has been mowing and getting the grounds ready. The farm animals, including the Red Devon herd, the goats and horses have been helping by intently looking at all the activity. Jon Bachman, Public Events Manager, and Phil Mark, Director of Preservation, are currently out on the Oval marking off the field where the 43 vendors will go.
Whether you love wine, history, or both, we think this year’s festival will offer you a taste of the best of both. We look forward to seeing everybody this weekend—-if you have not already made plans to come out please take a look at the wine festival events page on the website and I am sure you will find something worth your liking—including all the delicious food!
