Stratford was build in the late 1730s by the prominent Thomas Lee. Stratford was the boyhood home of his sons, Richard Henry and Francis Lightfoot, the only two brothers to sign the Declaration of Independence. It is the birthplace of Confederate General Robert E. Lee and considered one of the finest museum houses in America.
