All 2012 events and workshops with dates written in green below will be offered free to Friends of Stratford (FOS) members; all others will require event fees. FOS members attending the R. E. Lee Symposium will receive a 20% discount. FOS membership privileges do not include optional box lunches and special dinners. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for programs marked with an asterisk (*).
February 25 "Telling One Story" Part I: Education in Westmoreland to 1958 will be held in the A. T. Johnson museum 3-5PM. FREE. Sponsoring partners are Westmoreland Co. and A. T. Johnson Museums.*
March 24 Growing Up Female in the 18th Century. Explore the lives of various social classes of women, similarities and differences in experiences, opportunities and social behaviours. $10 adults/$5 children. 9 AM-NOON, duPont Library. FOS FREE *
March 31-April 1 French Wine Tasting Weekend. Enjoy a weekend of fine dining, wine tasting, live music, and relaxation. Fee.*
April 7 Easter Egg Hunt. Sponsored by NN Lodge 32 Fraternal Order of Police. FREE for participants and parents. Begins 11 AM sharp on the Oval. Prizes and food. Bring own basket - eggs are provided. No rain date.
April 13-15 Robert E. Lee Symposium: Antietam. Noted historians Gary Gallagher and Peter Carmichael lead participants in battlefield tour, lectures and discussions about the deadliest battle of the Civil War. Fee.*
April 21 Songs and Calls: No Idle Chatter. Program by Dr. Andrew Dolby about the hidden messages in bird sounds. 9 AM - 1 PM. $10 ($10 box lunch optional)*
May 5Yoga Fitness for Gardeners. Instruction by Certified Yoga Instructor Kay Hawkins to help meet the physical demands of gardening. No yoga experience necessary. $55 ($10 box lunch optional) Includes garden tour. 9AM-4PM
May 19 Songs and Remembrances.. Visit a Civil War encampment, have historic documents scanned as part of Library of Virginia's The Civil War 150 Legacy Project,and enjoy concert of Civil War era songs by the Chamber Choral of Fredericksburg. $10/$5/under5 free.*
June 2 Lees and Independence. FREE Family Fun Festival. Pony rides, games, historical dramatizations, militia demonstrations, food, and more. 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
June 16 Nature's Architects. Andrew Dolby will present a program on Birding at Stratford: Nesting and Chick Development. 9 AM - 1 PM. $10 fee. $10 box lunch optional.*

August 3 Introduction to Drawing Portraits by artist/instructor Kathy Waltermire. Beginning class focuses on proportions and planes of head and facial features. 9 AM-4 PM (includes 1 hour chair-yoga session) $65 ($10 box lunch optional)
August 4 Photography--Deepen Your Skills. Award-winning photographer Ann Tate presents an intermediate photography skills workshop. 9 AM-4 PM (includes 1 hour chair-yoga session). $65 fee ($10 box lunch optional)

August 25 Rain Barrel Workshop.Held by Northern Neck Master Gardeners from 10 AM-noon. All parts & tools provided for making rainbarrels. $50 for each barrel made. Pre-register with NN Master Gardeners. No FOS discount.
September 22 & 23 6th Annual Stratford Hall Wine Festival. Weekend of wine tasting & tips, arts & crafts, specialty foods, live music and plenty for the kids to do. SAT:11 AM-6 PM. SUN:11 AM-5 PM. Fee. No FOS discount.
September 29 Bird Migration: Nature's Incredible Journey. Presentation by Andrew Dolby on the regular mass movement of birds, what makes it possible, hazards of the journey and how it is studied. 9 AM-1 PM ($10 box lunch optional)*
October 6 Star Party at Stratford. The Rappahannock Astronomy Club will offer FREE solar and night sky observation, weather permitting. Begins 4 PM on the Oval and ends 11 PM.*
October 12-13 Discovering the Virginia Parlor 1730-1800. Two-day annual symposium exploring the architecture, decoration and furnishings of the Virginia parlor. Lectures & site visits.*
October 27 Historical Haunts. Family event for all ages! Special ghost tours of Great House, Halloween crafts and refreshments. $5 adult/$3 children. 6-8 PM.
November 3 Surgery and Medical Advances during the Civil War. A one-day symposium covers topics such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, emergency room methodologies, the African American doctor, and overview of medical practices. Pre-register. $75.*
November 21 Thanksgiving Dinner at Stratford Hall. Enjoy a delicious dinner without cooking! Seatings at noon and 3 PM. Reservation only using VISA or MasterCard.
December 5 Mary Young Tracy Decorative Workshop. Learn how to make a Hogarth Curve, holiday topiary, boxwood tree and kissing ball. Two different workshops: $50 for one, $85 for both. $10 box lunch optional.
December 8 1774: A Stratford Hall Christmastide. Celebrate the season in another century. Experience the Great House and grounds as the Lees host their holiday festivities. 4:30-8:30 PM. $10 adults/$5 children. Christmas candlelight dinner by reservation only.
