Introduction to Portrait Drawingwith instructor Kathy WaltermireAugust 3, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The supplies for this workshop are primarily pencils and drawing paper. A list will be provided on registration. There may be a small model fee. In the morning, students will see a demonstration of drawing the basic geometric forms that apply to the head in 3 to 5 values (darkest to lightest) and will do a practice drawing. They will then learn the proportions, forms and features of the head and how to draw them; for example, the shape of the eye and eye sockets, nose planes, ears, planes of the face, mouth and chin. After a yoga stretch session and lunch, there will be a demonstration drawn from a live model. Students will then spend the rest of the day drawing the model. The instructor will be available for individual help. At the end of the day, we will review the drawings and discuss. The cost of the workshop is $60 per participant, with an optional box lunch available for $10. A minimum of 6 participants will be required to hold the workshop, which is limited to 15 people. |
