STRATFORD, VA, (October 20, 2010) – What better place to bring the family for a special Halloween treat then Stratford Hall at Halloween?
Join us on October 30, 2010 at the Visitor Center from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The phantoms and ghosts will be out so be sure to bring your camera and prepare for the fun. Start with some light refreshments, unusual photo opportunities in the Visitor Center, and then on to the fortune telling.
The Seer Sisters, Madam Sadonia and her sister Magda, will offer you a peek into your future through palm reading or Tarot card reading. Then plan a stop at the crafts table, where our staff will help you create a unique Halloween gift from us to you. Then it’s off to be scared! Our interpretive staff will guide groups through the Great House for a special “Ghost Walk and Tour.”
In the 18th-century, when the Lee family lived at Stratford Hall, it was common for them to use the Great Hall for parties, weddings, baptisms, and—you guessed it—funerals. On October 30, a “Lee family member” will be on view in the Great Hall before being laid to rest in the nearby burial vault. Visitors will view this wake during their ghost tours through the house.
This is a family-friendly activity that is suitable for children and adults of all ages. Please remember to bring along your own flashlights, as it does get rather dark at Stratford Hall at night. Adults & children 12 & older cost $5; children 6-12 cost $3; and children 5 & under are free. No reservations required. All activities will begin in the Visitor Center.
See you on October 30th…Boo!
