Council House
Stratford Hall offers a variety of choices ideal for professional or social groups. We have the accommodations and lodging to make you and your guests comfortable. As meeting styles vary, our venue options vary as well. For professional meetings, Stratford has the necessary audio/visual tools needed for effective educational and training needs. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, or other food options may be designed for your individual retreat requirements.
Weddings at Stratford Hall
Imagine your wedding in a prestigious plantation setting, with a rolling lawn leading to the Potomac River and quaint lodging for your wedding party and guests. You can exchange vows with the grandeur of the Great House as your backdrop. Our wedding package provides you with exclusive on-site catering and all the amenities prior to and after the wedding. For larger guest lists, tented space is available.
Stratford Hall is an intimate, historical setting for the most memorable wedding experience. Wedding ceremonies may take place on the north lawn of the elegant Great House or in the stately Council House Chamber.
We are proud to be able to provide you and your guests with superb service and attention to detail.
Receptions at Stratford Hall
Stratford provides the Dining Room as a venue for your wedding reception, or you may choose to have an outdoor tented reception. Our in-house catering service is known for exquisite dining with a local flavor. Together we will design your reception menu specifically tailored to your wishes.
Rehearsal Dinners at Stratford Hall
Your rehearsal dinner at Stratford can be held in the elegant duPont Library or in the more intimate setting of the Stratford Hall Dining Room.
We can suggest menus for your special occasion or you may wish to create a custom menu.

Dining at Stratford Hall
The Dining Room is open to the public for lunch daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. An optional lunch buffet will be served on Saturdays and Sundays beginning April 13, 2013. The Dining Room is also available to serve large groups (15 or more) for other meals by reservation by contacting Benedicte Merian. See the menu options for groups.

Meeting Planners
Stratford Hall offers a variety of meeting spaces to accommodate both large and small groups. Conferences needing larger spaces can choose from the Council House, Preservation Gallery and duPont Library. Dinner or luncheon meetings can ideally be held in the Stratford Hall Dining Room. Smaller retreats and meetings can choose from the more intimate settings of the Astor and Cheek Guest Houses and Stratford Hall’s Lodging and Conference Center (formerly the Executive Director’s residence).

Active Duty Military: Stratford has joined the Blue Star Museum Program that allows free admission from Memorial Day to Labor Day for active duty military personnel with ID (or spouse if deployed) and up to five family members. For more information on the program, visit Blue Star Museums. From Labor Day to Memorial Day, active duty military personnel and family members receive $1 off of admission: $9 adults and $4 children 6-11.A Grounds Pass can be purchased which entitles the purchaser to access the hiking trails, public beach area, gardens, public grounds, Visitor Center, Dining Room and Gift Shop. The pass does not include admission to the Great House and other historic buildings. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children. The Grounds Pass will be valid only for the day it is purchased..

Stratford Hall is open daily for tours 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.until December 30, 2013, except for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Closed New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.Great House tours

Stratford Hall Plantation is located just off State Route 3 on State Route 214, six miles northwest of Montross, Virginia in Westmoreland County and 42 miles southeast of Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Directions from Washington
From Eastern half of the Beltway: Take Maryland Route 5 South to U.S. Route 301 South. About 10 miles after crossing the Potomac River toll bridge, turn left onto Virginia Route 3 East. Follow Route 3 for 20 miles, then take a left onto Route 214 at Lerty, Virginia. Follow Route 214 for 2 miles. Stratford’s gate is on the left.
From the Western half of the Beltway: Take I-95 South to Virginia Route 3 East (exit 130A on I-95) in Fredericksburg. Follow Route 3 for about 45 miles, then take a left onto Route 214 at Lerty, Virginia. Follow Route 214 for 2 miles. Stratford’s gate is on the left.Directions from Richmond

Suggested Group Itinerary
Off of Pope’s Creek, a tributary of the Potomac River, is George Washington Birthplace National Monument, which includes the heart of Augustine Washington’s plantation, the 17th century homesite of the immigrant John Washington, and the Washington Family Burial Ground. Tour the Colonial Revival memorial house and dependencies constructed in honor of the bicentennial of Washington’s birth and as part of the creation of the national park in 1932. Visit the colonial farm where George Washington was born and took his first steps and immerse yourself in an 18th century experience that includes, gardens, outbuildings, fields and heritage breed animals. Stratford is the home of two signers of the Declaration of Independence, Richard Henry Lee and Francis Lightfoot Lee, and birthplace of Confederate General Robert E. Lee. The Georgian Great House was built in c.1738 and the grounds still encompass 1900 acres of the original land which sits high along the bluffs overlooking the Potomac River. Guest CabinBoth guest houses have comfortable living rooms with satellite TV, central heating and air conditioning, and guest rooms with private baths and wireless Internet access. Together, the houses have a total of 20 guest rooms. Lodging in the Guest Cabins is available on a limited basis upon request.
