Weekend Family Adventure Camp
The Adventure Day Camp has been re-configured into our new Weekend Family Adventure Camp. What an adventure it is for children and their families to experience the realities of plantation life as it was 250 years ago. The family bonding that takes place is noted by campers with great enthusiasm. There is something for everyone with so many educational and fun-filled activities packed into a weekend. The cry "fire in the henhouse" signals the beginning of an old time bucket brigade contest (getting a little wet feels good on a hot summer day). At the Stratford landing (beach), campers will find sharks' teeth fossils just like the Lee children did so many years ago. Campers will play many roles of by-gone days, such as brickmaker, cook, blacksmith, archaeologist, artist and so much more--all with an important hands-on component. This new residential program is recommended for children, age 8-12, and any accompanying adult relative(s), e.g., grandmother, father, aunt, etc. It begins at 6 p.m., Friday, June 25, 2010, and ends at 4 p.m., Sunday, June 27, 2010. The cost is $295 per person and includes comfortable, air-conditioned accommodations with private baths, and all meals served by the Stratford Dining Room. The enrollment is limited to a maximum of only 20 children plus accompanying adults, so early registration is highly recommended.
