In celebration of The Garden Club of Virginia’s 80th anniversary of Historic Garden Week, on April 24 Stratford Hall will offer landscape tours at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., beginning with an introductory talk in the duPont Library. These tours will feature the research work of the Cultural Landscape Laboratory–a partnership with the University of Georgia-College of Environment and Design–and its potential impact on the landscape surrounding the eighteenth-century Great House. The introduction in the library will be followed by an approximately one-hour grounds walk, which will include the East Garden, the second garden restoration by The Garden Club of Virginia, to learn about the recent archaeological findings there. No charge for Northern Neck Historic Garden Week ticket holders.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes and arrive at least ten minutes prior to tour times.
Regular Stratford Hall tour ticket holders may inquire at the Visitor Center reception desk prior to tour times, and, if there is space available, they may be accommodated on the landscape tours.
