Stratford Hall is continually looking to add appropriate objects to the collections. If you believe you may have an object that originally belonged to the Lee family or other residents of Stratford dealing with the legacy of the Lee family or artifacts from the landscape and built environment of Stratford, we would like to hear from you.
A formal collecting plan is currently in place and outlines the types of materials we are seeking. Donations of appropriate materials are gratefully accepted and inquiries or offers can be made to the staff members listed below.
Stratford Hall’s Board of Directors recently approved a Collecting Plan to prioritize our acquisitions and focus on areas of importance to the interpretation of the site.
As we expand our research and develop plans for our buildings and historic landscapes, we will post a “wish list” of items that we feel would help improve the public’s understanding of how the Lees, their slaves, and their hired craftsmen lived and worked at Stratford Hall. We currently have a “wish list” for books that would help us to manage our collections better.
Please contact Stratford Hall’s Curator Gretchen Pendleton, Director of Preservation Phil Mark, or Director of Research & Library Collections Judy Hynson for more information on donating to our various collections.
