STRATFORD, VA, (April 19, 2011) – Coaching has been a Stratford Hall tradition for nearly 40 years. This year spend Mother’s Day, May 8, on the Northern Neck for a special celebration with your grandmothers, mothers and daughters. Stratford Hall is adding several new elements to the traditional Coaching event, which will give attendees a variety of entertainment options. This year’s event chair, Franny Kansteiner of Middleburg, has developed a program to give families and other guests a realistic glimpse of what some elements of life would have been like on a Virginia plantation in the eighteenth century. Kansteiner also serves as the Northern Virginia Director on the Stratford Hall Board of Directors.
As well as traditional coaches and carriages and the tailgating competition, this year’s event will feature several heritage breed animals, the same animals that one would have found at Stratford hundreds of years ago. Artisans and crafters will demonstrate skills such as open hearth cooking and blacksmithing, and attendees will have the opportunity to buy hand-made items and sample gourmet food from different vendors. The day’s performers include Sarah Schwarz, slack rope artist, and Grammy nominated musician Adrienne Young-Ramsey.
Stratford Hall is honored to have this year’s Coaching event sponsored by corporate partners The Price Group of Davenport & Company LLC, Rosner Automotive, Hantzmon Weibel, J.P. Morgan and Virginia Living. Many other donors in addition to these companies make Coaching, and all the work at Stratford possible.
For sponsors and benefactors, there is a host of activities that will span the weekend beginning on Friday, May 6. General admission is on May 8. For more information on the event and to purchase tickets, visit www.StratfordHall.org or call 804-493-8038 ext. 8919.
